چکیده

This paper concerns the effect that a stochastic resonance can have on a vibration isolation system. Rather than reducing the transmitted force, it is shown that it is possible to significantly mask the component of the force transmitted though the isolator, when the system is excited harmonically. This can be achieved by adding a very low intensity of random noise to the harmonic excitation force. The nonlinear mechanical vibration isolation system used in the study consists of a vertical linear spring in parallel with two horizontal springs, which are configured so that the potential energy of the system has a double-well. Prior to the analytical and numerical study, an experiment to demonstrate stochastic resonance in a mechanical system is described. & 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Vibration Analysis of a Nonlinear System with a Nonlinear Absorber under the Primary and Super-harmonic Resonances (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Abstract   In vibratory systems, linear and nonlinear vibration absorbers can be used to suppress the primary and super-harmonic resonance responses. In this paper, the behavior of a nonlinear system with a nonlinear absorber, under the primary and super-harmonic resonances is investigated. The stiffnesses of the main system and the absorber are cubically nonlinear and the dampers are linear. M...

Identification of Nonlinear Modal Interactions in a Beam-Mass-Spring-Damper System based on Mono-Frequency Vibration Response

In this paper, nonlinear modal interactions caused by one-to-three internal resonance in a beam-mass-spring-damper system are investigated based on nonlinear system identification. For this purpose, the equations governing the transverse vibrations of the beam and mass are analyzed via the multiple scale method and the vibration response of the system under primary resonance is extracted. Then,...

Application of the method of multiple scales for nonlinear vibration analysis of mechanical systems with dry and lubricated clearance joints

In this study, the method of multiple scales is used to perform a nonlinear vibration analysis of a mechanical system in two cases; with dry and lubricated clearance joints. In the dry contact case, the Lankarani-Nikravesh model is used to represent the contact force between the joined bodies. The surface elasticity is modeled as a nonlinear spring-damper element. Primary resonance is discussed...

In this paper, the nonlinear vibration behavior of a rotor with asymmetric shaft considering misalignment is studied. The system consists of a rectangular shaft and a disk which is connected to a motor through a flexible coupling. In order to consider higher order deformations, nonlinear Bernoulli beam is used for modeling the shaft. Gibbons’ equations are utilized to apply misaligned coupling ...
